When I worked for IBM over 25 years ago, it was the place to be with innovation out the "waszo".  All the craze at the time was BIG Mainframes and Virtualization of Hosted guest machines and processing power.  Today it seems that thousands of mini PC driven server farms has risen to the forefront.  And now are trying to clam they are the CLOUD!

But yet, most BIG data crunching are done primarily by Mainframes - IBM Mainframes.  And I mean BIG data processing like the stock market type of processing and Banking systems.  Systems that require millions and millions transactions per seconds!  Did you know that over 75% of online Banking (realtime) lean and run on the Mainframes using CICS (Customer Information Control System) systems - yeah that was my thing once upon a time.

IBM's mainframe was the Cloud before there was a cloud.  It would host processing of data and information and other management system on that single platform.  And still do. Plus it does it in a BIG way - consider WATSON - the Supercomputer processing  (80 teraflops (trillion floating-point operations per second)....  I rest my case.  Yes, I think Big Blue is still "BIG BLUE".
